Description of Significance THE ARMORY IN IDABEL WAS A 1936 PROJECT OF THE WORKS PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION. BUILT IN THE TYPICAL WPA STYLE, THE IDABEL ARMORY IS A SINGLE-STORY RECTANGULAR BUILDING WITH A CENTRAL BLOCK AND TWO WINGS. IT IS CONSTRUCTED OF UNTOOLED NATIVE SANDSTONE WITH RANDOM RUBBLE MASONRY. THE TWO WINGS HAVE A FLAT ROOF, WITH THE CENTRAL BLOCK HAVING AN ARCHED ROOF. PARAPETS, PILASTERS, AND STEPPED ROCK WORK ON THE CORNERS PROVIDE DECORATIVE ACCENTS. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 9/8/1988.
